With the guidance and support of the town of Poběžovice, The Japanese artist
duo KIYOMI + TETSUHIRO UOZUMI who live and work in Berlin will create an
exhibition titled "HALLO MITSUKO" to publicize the hidden story of the Czech-
Japanese historical figure Mitsuko Coudenhove-Kalergi. This exhibition will be
in conjunction with the 10th anniversary of Castle Poběžovice's Japanese
Garden.
The works that comprise HALLO MITSUKO will be fabricated from familiar
things collected from locals. the exhibition constructs a multi-layered narrative
of a historical figure, weaving together fragments of fiction and documentary
(non-fiction).
Firstly, It is important to mention some key details regarding the HALLO
MITSUKO exhibition venue.
Currently, our venue the Castle Poběžovice is undergoing extensive restoration
as such it can only be opened partially to the public. As such much of the castle
is mysterious, only hinting at its former glory, filled with traces of stories that are
not visible. During this extended renovation, our work will be a key component
to educate and engage visitors.
